RAFAEL SALAMAnCA JR.

A Proven Advocate

for the Bronx

Rafael Salamanca Jr. has spent his career standing up for the Bronx. As the son of first-generation Puerto Rican parents, he has a deep connection to the borough he calls home. Raised in the Bronx and now raising his own family here, Rafael knows firsthand the challenges and opportunities that our community faces. From his early career in healthcare to his leadership as District Manager of Bronx Community Board 2 and now as the Council Member for the 17th District, Rafael has been driven by one mission: to make life better for the people of the Bronx.

As Chair of the City Council’s Land Use Committee, Rafael has made affordable housing a top priority, ensuring thousands of new homes are built for families, seniors, and veterans. He’s brought over $400 million in capital investments to the Bronx, creating jobs, improving schools, and building a safer, stronger community. With more on the way from the rebuilding of the Hunts Point Produce Market, Rafael’s commitment to the Bronx remains as strong as ever.

Rafael and his wife Jessenia live in the Longwood neighborhood with their son, Aidan. His commitment to the Bronx is personal, and as Bronx Borough President, he’ll continue to fight for the issues that matter most—affordable housing, public safety, good jobs, and strong schools.
